Chicca
Bergonzi (Milan, 1969) lives in both Italy and Switzerland
for love and for work. She began working in the cultural
field in the early 90s, after attending the Paolo Grassi
Drama School in Milan. She also worked for some years
with the Sonora Association, as press officer and organizer
of concerts, music programs, dance productions, theatre
and cabaret. Alongside this activity, she also worked
with Radio Popolare Network, for which she created and
presented various programs on cinema and theatre. In
'94 Bergonzi was appointed general secretary of the
Filmmaker Association of Milan, responsible for the
circulation and promotion of Italian independent cinema.
She participated actively in the organization of An
Italian Year in Video in collaboration with Invideo.
Shortly after, she became a permanent member of the
organizational staff of Invideo - International Show
of Video Art and Other Cinema. The year 1995 marked
Bergonzi's fruitful collaboration with the Locarno International
Film Festival headed by Marco Müller. She was specifically
put in charge of the short films section Leopards of
Tomorrow. When she was subsequently made director of
the short films section with Irene Bignardi, she moved
to Switzerland, to live on Lake Lemano. There, she continued
her "damages" by collaborating on an animated film produced
by a Lausanne movie theatre.

years and has also been a consultant of Mediaset Televisions
for the acquisition and programming of shorts. She is
now part of the new staff of the Locarno International
Film Festival as delegate of the Artistic Direction and
organizes events and film and video art programs in her
free time. In the world, she travels intensely and sees
countless films, videos, shorts and documentaries. She
aims to get these films shown in festivals on Locarno,
Milan, Rome, Lausanne, in art and film school, universities,
or wherever else an eager audience is waiting for her
