AETERNA: MOZART'S REQUIEM IN THE ANIMATIONS OF LEONARDO CARRANO

After having presented the individual movements of Mozart’s Requiem, as animated by Leonardo Carrano, year by year, INVIDEO now presents a world preview of the entire work. This extraordinary composition was put together over years of work using a variety of different techniques including carved and painted film, pencil drawings on paper, oil paint, silk-screen printing, filmed images of leaves and iron sculptures, and 3D animation. This Requiem’s aspiration was to create images to accompany Mozart’s composition: an experimental video animation was created for each of the celebrated mass’ fourteen movements. The goal was to create an overall work whose fourteen sections are distinguished by the different animation techniques and expressive idioms employed. «Aeterna by Leonardo Carrano is a marvellous, unique work. Mozart’s Requiemis exalted by its inventive imagery, showing a world far above us…». (Ennio Morricone)
