Eccentric gazes and hyperbolic imagery: a meeting with Mihai Grecu

For several years, INVIDEO has been carefully following the work of Mihai Grecu, one of the most interesting authors on the international scene of videocreation. An independent artist, he works in the field of contemporary video art (single-channel video, video installations, live performances), the cinema and graphic design. A poetic strongly linked to the investigation of contemporary anxieties emerges from his works, where uncontrolled phobias and sinister metamorphoses become established.

In addition to his complete videography, at INVIDEO Mihai Grecu presents his latest work Exland, the surreal portrait of an abandoned amusement part in a mysterious place in the north, where an unexpected and hallucinatory catastrophe takes place.

Mihai Grecu, Romanian by birth (1981) and French by adoption, studied Design and Fine Arts in Romania and France, where he furthered his artistic research attending Le Fresnoy, Studio national des arts contemporains. His works have been presented at prestigious festivals, where he has received various awards, including Clermont-Ferrand, the International Film Festival of Rotterdam, the Festival del Film of Locarno and VideoBrasil in São Paulo.
