La pazza della porta accanto: Alda Merini - a portrait by Antonietta De Lillo

In this film portrait Antonietta De Lillo returns to the subject of Alda Merini, of whom she made a video portrait, Ogni sedia ha il suo rumore (Engl. Transl. Every Chair has its own Noise) in 1995, where the poet’s own voice alternates with the intense recitation by Licia Maglietta. Much of the long conversation with Merini recorded on that occasion remained unused and has now provided the opportunity for a new work, La pazza della porta accanto (Engl. Transl. The Madwoman next door), produced by marechiarofilm, a company founded by De Lillo («with the intention,» writes the director, «of encouraging encounters between different generations, between the cinema and the net, and countering the ‘throwaway’ society by recovering film materials that are important for our collective memory.») with the collaboration of RAI Cinema.

Antonietta De Lillo(Naples, 1960) is one of the most interesting authors to emerge in the field of new Italian cinema. After studying at the DAMS in Bologna, she worked as a photo reporter, subsequently devoting herself to the cinema, with full-length films and many documentaries and video portraits. She has won numerous acknowledgements and awards. At present she is working on the film project Morta di Soap. Ever since her début, INVIDEO has followed her work with close attention.
