ARCHIVES AND CINEMATHÈQUES: THE DIGITAL CHALLENGE

This year INVIDEO pursues the reflections on audiovisual collections to which it has devoted so much attention ever since its foundation, in turn building up an archive amongst the most consistent and important on the international scene. After the
exchange of opinions in 2012 on the “conservation and renaissance” debate, in 2013 we shall be shifting the focus to digital, with reflections on the opportunities and prospects offered by the latest technology. These are the topics of an exchange the Cinémathèque de Lausanne, the Cineteca Italiana, L’Immagine Ritrovata - Laboratorio di restauro cinematografico and Home Movies - Archivio Nazionale del Film di Famiglia, La Camera Ottica, the Milano Film Network and the Coordination of Swiss Festivals.

As a homage to traditional film, a Super-8 video will be presented, thus an amateur format in the full sense of the term, revisited today in a large range of works and a favourite with many experimental filmmakers.
